Don’t Underestimate God’s Grace

By God-Musings.com | July 20, 2008

God’s grace and generosity - often spoken about and discussed, but I do wonder how much we can really grasp.

Imagine you went on a trip, and bought a ticket for a train ride.

The class of carriage you would be housed in, the number and type of meals provided, the cost of the ride, the duration of the trip, other details, as well as the terms and conditions of the ride, are stated clearly on the ticket.

How would you feel if the ride ended up costing more, you were given a less comfortable carriage, you were provided one less meal or the ride took 2 hours longer than expected?

Frustrated, short-changed, cheated, and perhaps angered, I would think.

When I think about God’s grace, I think of the opposite.

Whatever we were ‘promised’, whatever we have paid our dues for, or earned, whatever we were told we would get, whatever we expect we would get, whatever is written on our “ticket of life” - they wouldn’t even come close to what he would finally give us.

That’s what I think of God’s generosity, beyond anything we can understand and even accept. Way better than anything we will ever deserve. Beyond conditions.

If he is indeed who I think he is, then God’s grace would surely know no bounds.

I can’t wait for the day when I finally understand the grace of God. It will surely be an overwhelming experience.
